History

Chairperson's message:

I brought seven Americans to Japan tour in 2013. They enjoyed it very much by my careful arrangement in everywhere they went.

I am a native Tokyo person and I loved to show off my beautiful, modern and safe country to Americans. It perfect blend of natural beauty and modernized aspects.

From Tokyo to Kyoto, Nara and Nagoya which included Ancient capitols, Historic sites, Majestic Mt. Fuji, Automobile factory and Imperial palaces in Kyoto and Tokyo.

Overall, the tour was very successful. (You may see at the link: www.discoveramazingjapan.com)

Then, my music teachers asked me to express that they want to go to Japan to play their Classical music in Japan.

Foreign musicians' number one dream is playing their music in Japan. There is a reason for it. Because Japanese audiences are well-educated in music.

I did every possible way to treat Virginian musicians (Violinist, Violist, Pianist,  Soprano and Tenor singers) as VIPs.

We had wonderful, successful concerts in Japan. At that time, my husband, Dr. Cameron A. Gillespie, MD, was a main and only patron to support this activities.

I made up my mind to obtain Non Profit Organization Status to keep these activities vitals.

Yamaha concert (2014) profit donated to the Japanese NPO Organization: Kids Earth Fund. I specifically asked them to help the children who suffered from East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami that happened in 2011.

Appalachian Dream, Inc. was established in 2014 and granted 501(C-3) status in 2015(Tax Exemption).

When you kindly donate to Appalachian Dream, Inc. you will receive a Tax deductible receipt from us. Any donation is greatly appreciated!

Sincerely,
Tomoko Usami Kress Gillespie
